Is there a limit on how many people can join a channel at once?

Yes, there is a limit on how many people can join a channel at once in Sendbird. The maximum number of members allowed in a group channel is 100 by default, but it can stretch up to tens of thousands in Supergroup channels. On the other hand, there is no specific limit on how many people can join an open channel at once, as it can support up to millions of participants.

For example, a group channel can be used for private 1-on-1 conversations, such as clinical consultations or Instagram-style direct messages, where only two users are involved. In this case, the limit of 100 members is more than enough. However, for a midsize conference for regular updates, such as a company-wide meeting, a Supergroup channel would be more suitable as it can accommodate a large number of users.

In contrast, an open channel can be used for short-lived live events, such as concerts and live streams, where a large number of participants can join at once. In this case, the limit of millions of participants in an open channel would be more appropriate.
