[Problem/Question]
The organization I work for utilizes Sendbird Chat SDK 4.2.30 for our communication with customers. Recently we’ve experienced issues with Chat in the form of a “grey screen” on top of the Chat widget, leaving users unable to respond to any messages they received since they cannot see the area received messages are displayed in due to the grey screen that’s laying over the widget.
The issue is intermittent, and not all our customers are having the problem every time, but the rate at which we’ve seen the issue occur has been increasing. We’ve also had a difficult time reproducing the issue internally.
[SDK Version]
4.2.30
[Reproduction Steps]
- As “customer”, IE external user create and establish chat channel between 2 users
- Have the external user (the one who created the chat channel) send a message to the internal user
- Observe the internal user being able to receive and read the message
- Have the internal user send a message to the external user
- Observe the Chat widget area that displays received messages turn grey, leaving the user unable to read the received message
[Frequency]
For some users the issue has occurred multiple times in a single day while other users have not seen the issue at all. We are able to reproduce it internally in a very edge case scenario, but it seems much more wide-spread with our customer base.
We are seeing the issue on Android phones and tablets though it does not appear related to a specific version of Android. At this time I cannot confirm whether the issue also happens on Web or iOS.
[Current impact]
It prevents our customers from using the Sendbird Chat which is the preferred contact method of choice for most our customers.
